Boomu Women’s Group: An Authentic African Experience

At Boomu Women’s Group, immerse yourself in an unforgettable African cultural experience while visiting Murchison Falls National Park. Founded in 1999, this group aims to combat malnutrition and poverty and provide education for children through the income generated by its members. Located in the villages of Kihaguzi and Kigaragara, the group has grown to include around 40 members, both women and men, working together to offer a unique tourism experience.

A Community Effort

The name “Boomu” means “together,” and this spirit of cooperation is evident in every aspect of the group’s activities. Initially starting with craft making, the group has expanded into a thriving community tourism project. Visitors can enjoy guided village tours, explore gardens, dine at the restaurant, and stay in traditionally built budget accommodations.

While locals eat with their hands, tourists can request forks if preferred. Local dishes are the mainstay, but western food and vegetarian options are also available.

Taking a cold open-air shower is a unique and refreshing experience, though hot water can be supplied in a jerrycan for those who prefer it.
